honouring the full spectrum of emotions we humans can experience.
Toes are so important to life and movement. But sometimes I can’t see mine. Sometimes I forget they’re there.
The scientific term homeostasis describes the process by which our bodies maintain equilibrium. I visualise homeostasis to be an oscillating wave: just like our emotions: just like the outline of my toes.
Take a moment to stop an d think about your Homeostatic Toes.
Homeostatic Toes embraces the full spectrum of emotions that we humans can experience. It confronts the passions that drive these emotions, and encourages individuals to channel their experiences into a creative outlet.
Whether the outcome is a masterpiece, or just another stepping stone to an indistinct goal, Homeostatic Toes exposes the vital cathartic feelings attained through the creative process.
We must not rely only on the highs. Usingour unlimited palette of emotions, we should canvas our lives to make full use of all our emotional colours.
Homeostatic Toes aims to capture the many different ways in which those nearest to me explore their wondrous, volatile and emotional selves.
I hope you find these people as inspiring as I do.
Homeostatic Toes has taken me for a mental trek. What feels like a long time ago this book was called ‘Mind Apples’, a recognised practice that encourages individuals to identify their ‘five-a-day’. I had to acknowledge this was ill-fitting because my concept is more inclusive than distinguishing only the positive things in day-to-day life. So I reoriented the idea towards ‘Polarity Integration’, which seeks to accept both the dark and light of one’s life, esteeming both ends of the spectrum. It was from these recognised doctrines that ‘Homeostatic Toes’ was born, which unlike its sisters, promotes the full spectrum of emotion, and endorses all creativity made on the back of that emotion.
