KIT ONDAATJE ROLLS

Kit Ondaatje Rolls (b. 1997) is an interdisciplinary creative, working at the intersection of culture, ecology, and the arts. Graduating with a BA in Sociology & Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh (2019) she went on to join the first graduating class of the new Biodesign Master’s at Central Saint Martins (2021). During the Master’s, her project ‘Blimey!’ won the MA Biodesign, Maison/0, LVMH Collaboration 'One Nature, One Future' and was exhibited at the IUCN Congress 2021 in Marseille, France. She was recently selected to curate the creative segment of SHE Changes Climate’s inaugural event at COP26, championing artists who celebrate the feminine, the diverse, the resilient, and the collaborative. Ondaatje Rolls was a COP26 panelist, speaking alongside CONFENIAE representative Verónica Inmunda and 70s rockstar Brian Eno, and was  the Women For Change Keynote speaker at ChangeNOW’s 2022 International Climate Summit, at Grand Palais Éphémère, Paris.

She has recently finished her second book, ‘FUNGI: Creatures & Cultures,’ which explores the ancient wisdom and modern wonders found in the world of fungi. Weaving together art, ecology, culture, and mythology, the book invites readers to consider how fungi might help us rethink our relationships — with ourselves, with each other, and with the wider world. Watkins will publish the book in Spring 2026.

From 2023 to 2024, Kit worked as a Biodesigner and Fungi Researcher at Bristol Fungarium, where she developed limited-edition mycelium packaging and sculptures, alongside writing copy and producing visual content for their social media and marketing channels. Like many start-up environments, the role was varied and hands-on: she contributed to cultivation, harvesting, dehydration, education on medicinal mushrooms, festival work, merchandise design, and more. In 2025, Kit participated in Wildbiome, a three-month scientific study examining the impact of an entirely wild diet on the gut microbiome and other health indicators. She has also completed VITAL, the year-long Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Training Programme by Psychedelics Today, engaging deeply with the evolving science and history of psychedelic medicine.

She is currently working on a long-term project to bring fungi to the broader public in London. She is soon to start teaching workshops around London, seeking to inspire the next generation to participate in this global, restorative movement through playful creativity.
